Hi. Finally I got more time to look at my blog. I’ve been busy and had plenty of homeworks to do. But now it’s finally a sunday to relax and have fun with Vaspedia. Last time I wrote about going to Porto in Portugal. This trip was amazing. What a beautiful city with squares and monuments and much bigger as well – almost 300.000 inhabitans (Santiago around 93.000). We went across the huge bridge to visit a wineyard. We tasted the famous Port wine in the cellars (not bad!), while a fun tour guide showed us around. Like real tourists some of us erasmus students went on a sightseeing tour plus a very short sea life trip. We ate and danced the nights away
The week after we (three german girls and me) went to Andalusia in Malaga, subtropical climate and therefore providing a great weather (20-24 celsius). What you exactly need in November! Sadly I lost my wallet before the trip even had begin, so I had to borrow money from my friend Johanna during the whole trip. Apart from this the trip was great though!
Many greetings from me

So far – one month and one week
….so good – spanish test/eight great classes
The classes- I try as best I can to follow and understand the language, and hell ya it’s tough! I even have to learn galician as well, which is the first spoken language here. I work hard on communication everywhere, and sometimes I feel pathetic for not being able to handle a normal conversation for just two minutes! In that case I finally took a spanish test today, and hopefully I can join a course next week, even though I got a lot of problems with the system and the webpage of CLM (centro de lenguas modernas). And then i’m going to exchange english-spanish with Rose, I met at Filoloxia. But despite of the language, I find the classes interesting and great teachers:
Gramática española 1, linguisticá española 1, gramática galega 1, gramática inglésa (morfoloxía), lingüistica computional, aleman 3 og 4.
Erasmus last week I went to Erasmus welcome event in the University Rector’s Office. The rector made a speech about the academic year as an exchange student and in general about USC’s university life. A shame that people talked loudly and made a heavy noise, so you had to sit next to the rector to hear him. But the day was a great opportunity to meet other international and local students.
My social life – It is still an interesting experience to meet people from new backgrounds and can often be a lot of fun. But tough as well! Especially when I see many groups of friends and people sharing the same language, I miss my good friends! I’m still seeing Maria, and last saturday we (5-6 people) went out celebrating her 25th birthday. I made new friends in my class and among the big group of german students. And with some of them I just booked a trip to porto (north of Portugal) in the end of this month through this erasmus organisation http://www.sharingalicia.es/. A little excitement!
I hope you all are doing great!
All love from me
un beso

Las horas puntas! »« Dos semanas!
So now I’ve got a nice room in a flat in central Santiago. Sylvia is a a lovely girl, but since I moved in, I barely haven’t seen her (only once), as she works a lot at that hostel, I stayed for one night. Silvia has one day off, and then she will show me more of the city. The funny thing is that she was born in Switzerland, but live in Spain because her parents moved here. Well Silvia is so spanish and speaks only spanish. Hugo is a friend of Sylvia, and I haven’t actually seen him yet. They also just moved into the flat, and everything is almost brand new. This means kitchen stuff and hot water is missing. But I just love the place! Everything is so tiny ansd cute, and the view is beautiful and green from the back yard of the apartment (look at the pictures!)
I alreday have seen a lot of Santiago. Yesterday I visited the southern part of the University of Santiago. A very friendly gentleman gave me informations about exchange and spanish curses, even though I was in the wrong place. My faculty belonging to Campus north, and that is obviously far away from it all. So I decided to visit the faculty tomorrow, as I was going to meet Bette and Kim and their travel partners, Helle and Lasse. They invited me on BEERS AND PAELLA, and we had a great evening.
I’m feeling home and I’m really great!
I just love Santiago!!!!! Click on the pictures to make them larger!
Greetings from me in the wonderful library of Santiago
Dos semanas! »« Departure: today!
Since last time I met Maria (doing nurse study) in a supermarket last saturday. She worked there and helped me with navigation. It turned out, Maria has something to do with Erasmus students and the social events. With her things happens all the time, and I have met other people like Miryam and Marta, two girls from Gerona and Barcelona who are studying psychology. On monday I met Antiand Maria invited us to La Coruna. We shopped (too much!!) and visited Marias brother and his girlfriend. They just got a huge flat, and this visit was really strange. But Maria has not told them that antia and I were coming too. After this we went to a beautiful place (the pictures of marias camera – her huge hobby). This place was once used for a landfill, and now it is open for tourists and lovers!
Last wednesday I met marias english teacher, sweet and calm. I might be joining one of her classes next week to watch.
At the library I met the erasmus student Juan from Argentina, studying economics. Wednesday night we went out with other erasmus students to listen to some music.
I really cant figure out the curses here and when they are going to start. I was supposed to join a class in computer linguistic today. But a lot of the curses will first start in october. I have looked at several curses, I want to study, but it does not seems like they are starting now. Its not easy to figure out their 10.000 tables. But then I met two students from Germany, who also were intended to join some classes. Tonight I am going out with them, and my linguistic brain is so complicated right now between spanish, english and german. Puhhh.
I hope you all are great! You can write to me through comments.
